- GeoClock 8.2, 99/01/18 geoclock@compuserve.com
-
- New in 8.2 versus 8.1 (Windows Only)
- - A feature to easily set the initial map was added.
- - The virtual time can now be controled with VCR type controls .
- This allows single step, reverse, etc, with buttons similar to a VCR.
- - The maximum number of clocks in the clocks window was increased to 100.
- - A problem in the sorting of gazetteer entries was solved.
- - Code restructuring to support a future 32 bit version.
-
- GeoClock 8.1 (windows only) adds:
- 1) GeoClock CD-ROM. This CD-ROM contains everything available for GeoClock
- (except the HAM package, which is custom for each user). It has about 500
- maps (many of which have never been released before), GeoGlobe, and many
- extra programs and files. The CD-ROM price is $75 for new registrations,
- and $50 if you have any prior registered version.
- 2) New commands (NETWORK and CONFIG) to support running GeoClock from the
- CD-Rom while maintaining full customizability
- 3) Fix for Win98 screen saver bug
- 4) New form of LIGHT command
-
- GeoClock 8.0 (windows only) adds:
- 1) Display view-from-space maps by shift-left-click on a point.
- 2) Display world map centered at a point by shift-right-click.
- 3) Integrate GeoGlobe (including screen saver) into GeoClock
- provided optional GeoGlobe program has been purchased.
-
- GeoClock 8.0 (DOS and Windows) adds:
- 1) New registration file (GEOCLOCK.KEY) which will solve problems
- caused by some virus checkers. REGISTER.EXE will continue to work
-
- GeoCLock 8.0 (DOS only) fixes:
- 1) Bug caused by error in turbo pascal run-time-library that can
- cause errors on very fast machines (Pentium Pro 200+, Pentium II 233+)
-
-
- GeoClock 7.5 (windows only) adds:
- 1) An interactive annotation and customization feature. Click
- Customize/Customize MAPn to activate this feature.
- 2) A USRn.DAT file to hold customization information that will
- be permanent, even if you update the GeoClock data files.
-
- GeoClock 7.4 (both DOS and windows) adds:
- 1) Display of moon rise and moon set. The times will be displayed
- whenever the MOON7 or MOON3 commands are active. A new command,
- MOONRSn , has been added. If n=0, moon rise/set data will not be
- displayed. If n > 0, n determines the number of iterations used
- to calculate moon rise/set data. n=1 is usually not satisfactory,
- and n=2 (the default value) seems to be OK.
- 2) A new zipcode interpolation system was added to give better
- results with zipcodes which have been added after the current
- ZIPCODE.BIN file. This affects the HAM radio package when using
- a CD-ROM, and also the setup program/menu.
- 3) Corrected handling of GEOZONES updates.
- 4) Corrected handling of VECTOR command.
-
- GeoCLock 7.4 (windows only) adds:
- 1) Automatic selection of otherwise identical SVGA/VGA maps, based
- on current window size. A new command,
- MAPGROUPn/x/y was added to support this. n=0 indicates that the
- old method of map selection is to be used. n=1 indicates that the
- new method is to be used, but only when zooming. n=2 indicates that
- the new method is always to be used.
- If both VGA and SVGA maps exist, then if the windows Xsize is greater
- or equal to x, *and* the window Ysize if greater or equal to y, then
- the SVGA map is used, otherwise the VGA map is used.
- A new menu item, Controls/Resolution, has been added to support this
- function.
- 2) The size limit on USCITY.BIN and WRLDCITY.BIN was increased to 64K.
- 3) Since some systems to not have WINMEM32.DLL, GeoClock will use its
- own version of this DLL if WINMEM32.DLL is not found.
- 4) Several changes were made to the screen saver. A "leak" in the
- password system was closed. The help system is not loaded when the
- screen saver is started, but only when/if a dialog box is generated.
- A new command, NOSSHELP, was added to prevent the help system from
- loading at all when the screen saver is active.
- 5) A rare problem with lat/long lines and rapid mouse clicks was solved.
-
-
-
-
-
-
- GeoClock 7.3 (both DOS and windows) adds a revised MAPCENTER command to
- allow maps to be centered on the current sun position.
-
- GeoClock for Windows 7.3 adds a separate clocks windows that can show
- the current local time for user selected cities anywhere in the world,
- and a wide variety of other improvements.
-
- GeoClock for DOS 7.3 corrects a timing error in scripts.
-
- GeoClock for Windows 7.2 adds two major new features: a true
- Windows screensaver mode, and a wallpaper mode.
-
- 1. Windows Screensaver. The screensaver is initialized for the
- first time from the FILES/Screen Saver Setup menu item. After that,
- it can be controlled from the main Windows Control Panel/Desktop
- (win3.x and WinNT) or the MyComputer/Display (Win95).
-
- 2. Windows Wallpaper. The wallpaper mode is activated by checking
- the "In Background" box in the Controls/Window Controls menu item, or
- by including INBACK1 on the command line. See the online help for
- more information.
-
- 3. Summer time extrapolation algorithm. This change improves the accuracy
- of the extrapolation of summer time dates. A change was made in the DST
- command syntax to support this change. Of cource, since lawyers are involved
- in determining these dates...
-
-
- Version 7.1 (both DOS and Windows) add two major new features:
- the HAM package now recognizes the QRZ CD-ROM in addition to the
- BuckMaster CD-ROM; the NETWORK command was added to allow multiple
- configurations. In addition, some bug fixes and enhansements were
- made to the windows version.
-
- 1. QRZ disk. There are no syntax changes. If you have the HAMCD
- command, the program will recognize the QRZ or BuckMaster disk,
- depending on which it finds first if you have both mounted. If you
- specifiy the file name, you must specify the location of the
- CALLBKC.DAT file for the QRZ CD.
- *** Starting with the Octobert 1995 release, GeoClock no longer
- works with the BuckMaster CD. BuckMaster has deleted the
- HAMCALL.129 file that GeoClock uses. The replacement file is
- encrypted, and BuckMaster will not release the file format and
- encryption algorithm. You can obtain the QRZ CD at retail or
- from the publisher:

- FAX: 510 674-0821
- Internet: info@cdrom.com
-
- 2. NetWork
- NETWORK allows you to run GeoClock on a network, with each user able
- to customize his use of the program. The syntax is:
- NETWORK@serverpath@localpath
- - or -
- NETWORK
- In the second case, the path to the GeoClock EXE file is used as the
- serverpath, while the current default directory is used as the local
- path.
- Example: NETWORK@C:\GEOCLOCK@F:\MYGEO@
-
- In general, when GeoClock requires a file, it first looks for the file
- in the localpath directory. If the file is not found there, it looks
- in the serverpath directory. When files are written (such as when the
- options statement is used), the changed file is written to the
- localpath directory. This changed file will them be the one read the
- next time that file is required.
-
- Only MAP*.EGA files in the serverpath directory will be used. All other
- files may be in either directory.
-
- 3. The windows version has a number of enhansements and bug fixes:
- The apparent speed has been increased (apparent is all that matters
- in windows, I guess!). In particular, the delay from a mouse click
- to the menu appearance is greatly reduced.
- A new feature was added to the SETUP menu, to allow grey scale and
- color depth to be specified. In addition, 16 color systems are
- automatically detected, and the color palette is modified to
- make display on this system better.
- A test-map feature was added to the file menu to facility detection
- of bad maps.
- Bugs in DRAWFCIRCLE and script were fixed.
- The NOGLYPH command was added to solve an Out-Of-Resources on some
- older systems running in 64K and 16M color mode.
- The MAKEZOOM program was modified to support the Windows version.
